Well guidance is what everyone needs. Most of the beginners face this problem which included me. In beginning days of my development, i switched from core development to cms development and WordPress was my first encounter.
I felt confused because I know things about WordPress but was unaware of the right path to follow while developing.
In this post I will discuss 4 steps which you should follow after you install WordPress and are ready to customize it.
- First thing to do is install a good theme. Many of you already get on it after installing WordPress but some do a common mistake of installing every theme and trying to configure it.
Well this is a honest mistake which I did and was proven to be a time waste.
WordPress repository is full of free themes, for every type of need like blog, business, ecommerce etc and every niche like photography, fashion, travel, health etc.
It is recommended to target those themes first rather than going for every recommended theme in search.
Along with that search on Google for specific theme type. There are lots of companies and freelancers which develop themes are available on freemium model. See the demo before you choose a theme. It can save a-lot of time while searching for the right theme.
- Customize WordPress dashboard after configuring whole website. It can come out of surprise but it is the best thing to do for the person operating the website. If it is you, still you need to customize it. Customising dashboard can save you time time too. By bringing important elements in front and hiding all the other elements increase work efficiency and productivity.
There are fee plugins available in WordPress repository which fully customize WordPress dashboard.
- Securing WordPress is the final step to do. Well after completing every type of customization, securing website is necessary. You have to apply some advanced security implementations in WordPress so that there is no loophole left to allow access to hackers.
One of the primary security implementations is changing default values and removing plugin and WordPress versions.
These are the three steps which should be followed after installing WordPress according to my experience. I hope the roadmap is clear to you, if not you can comment below to ignite a discussion.
